Hirving Lozano lit up the World Cup with his brilliant display against Germany

first_img Mexico defender Eddie Alvraez celebrates Mexico’s stunning win Lozano’s price will skyrocket after the WC— Josip 🎗️ (@jperkovic93) June 17, 2018 MATCH REPORT: Germany 0-1 MexicoAlthough a huge amount of credit should go towards the way Juan Carlos Osario’s men set up, Lozano certainly caught the eye in the win.Lozano is nicknamed ‘Chucky’, apparently because he scares his team-mates by hiding under their beds and jumping out at them. And it’s fair to say there were many different sides to him during Mexico’s famous victory. We were treated to the sublime side for most of the first-half. The winger caused all kinds of problems for Germany and Bayern Munich right-back Joshua Kimmich and the whole German defence in general. Lozano made German right-back Joshua Kimmich’s life very hard all game A completely deserved victory for Mexico, fantastic team effort. Lozano was outstanding as was Javier Hernandez.— Chris Winterburn (@cmwinterburn) June 17, 2018 Mexico pulled off a heroic win over World Cup holders Germany after carving out a 1-0 win over the World Cup holders at the Luzhniki Stadium.Hirving Lozano scored the only goal of the game to put his side top of Group F.center_img 2 2 Mexico played a counter-attack style which worked really well against the high German line but they were failing to punish the four-time winners.Lozano combined very well with former Arsenal player Carlos Vela throughout the first game but they still did not have anything to show for their encouraging play. However, that all changed on 35 minutes when another swift counter caught Joachim Low’s men cold again. The ball was given to Lozano who could have had a go first time, but he had the confidence to cut inside before showing great composure to fire the ball into the net, beating Manuel Neuer at the near post – sending the army of Mexico supporters into a state of ecstasy.Moments later, we saw a more erratic side to Lozano after he fouled Kimmich with a cynical swipe to the legs on the edge of the box.Lozano and Mexico were given a huge let-off as Toni Kroos’ resulting free-kick was tipped onto the bar by Guillermo Ochoa. After the break it seemed as though Mexico were content with preserving their lead so Lozano was less dangerous going forward. Instead he had a few more defensive duties which were good enough to keep the Germans out. However, his fiery attitude was in full flow with a few reckless challenges and Osorio was wise to take him off on 65 minutes. But this did not stop fans on Twitter from singing Lozano’s praises. Hirving Lozano ran the show for #MEX. What a wonderful performance. Chucky is going to be in demand after this World Cup. Great skill, composure and attitude. Big things to come.— Liam Canning (@LiamPaulCanning) June 17, 2018While there are very few clubs who have been outright linked to Lozano, his performance against the Germans will certainly attract the attention of clubs across Europe as he has proved he can do it in the big games. With goals being hard to come by in the 2017/18 season, Chelsea may be interested in acquiring a forward who clearly has some attitude to terrorise defences in the Premier League.Dutch football pundit Kees Jansma claimed Lozano is on for a move to Premier League champions Manchester City. Lozano also refused to rule out a move to Everton last month. It’s clear that whoever signs him have got a potential bright prospect on their hands.talkSPORT will be with listeners all day and all night at this year’s 2018 FIFA World Cup™ with over 800 hours of World Cup content and all 64 games live across the talkSPORT network.last_img read more
